General Description:  As a Job Shadowing Animal Science Intern, this position will have the opportunity to observe and assist our Veterinarians, Vet Technicians, Nutritionist, Administrative and Sales team in providing care, service, and sales. The intern should possess motivated and enthusiastic interaction skills as most of the workday will be spent learning about the various ways Sioux Nation Ag Center services producers and customers. Responsibilities:
  • Shadowing and accompanying veterinary staff, nutritionists, sales, administrative and warehouse employees as they complete their respective tasks and duties.
  • Observing and assisting with the work in all departments as competency supports.
  • Participating in discussions about the animal health industry while out on calls.
  • Traveling to multiple locations to learn a variety of skills and achieve the learning objectives in each department.
  • Asking questions and seeking to learn as much as possible about the field of animal health.
  • Other duties as assigned and as experience is gained.
Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in high school or a pre-college program
  • Interest in pursuing a career in or supporting animal health.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work well in a team.
  • Willingness to learn and ask questions.

General Description: This position will perform care for both large and small animals under the supervision of the Veterinarian as well as office clerical duties.  This person should enjoy working with large and small animals and possess great customer interaction skills as most of the workday will be spent around producers and customers. Responsibilities:
  • Administering vaccinations, inserting ear tags, etc. under Veterinarian supervision
  • Comfortable working with small and large animals
  • Assisting with animal restraint and handling during appointments, surgeries, and other procedures
  • Moving cattle into and out of alleys, pens, and chutes
  • Assisting with laboratory testing
  • Client communications including phone calls, discharge, history, record keeping, appointments, and education
  • Working with team members to maintain a healthy clinic and work atmosphere

General Purpose: This position is responsible for maintaining and overseeing inventory and supplies by receiving, storing, and delivering products.  Maintaining of appropriate inventory levels to ensure availability of product for remote locations and customers.  Supervise warehouse associates and delivery drivers to ensure compliance with all company protocols. Responsibilities:
  • Communicate with store managers and purchasing to ensure accurate levels of inventory are on hand.
  • Assist Field Marketers and Inside Sales team to analyze customer demand to properly plan inventory and customer needs.
  • Ensure all warehouse orders are pulled by the warehouse team only, to minimize lost or doubled orders.
  • Keep consistent communication with Inside Sales team on incoming orders.
  • Evaluate inventory regularly to remove excessive or restock missing items.
  • Review timeliness of scheduled deliveries and analyze shipments to include routing of deliveries and accurate shipments.
  • Maintain and oversee fleet needs and protocols for base location.

General Description: This position is considered remote as it will provide support and oversight of all swine feed sales efforts throughout the company and to all locations.  Candidate will drive growth of feed sales through technical support of field marketers and formulate and balance rations for field marketers’ customers.  You will be exposed to a large variety of experiences and opportunities for great learning, all while providing on-site consulting services to feed customers to help maximize overall animal performance. Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Support field marketers’ and manufacturers’ feed sales through consultation and ration balancing.
  • Travel with field marketers to customer sites to identify problems and opportunities.
  • Research and provide answers to problems and guide customers through corrective measures.
  • Formulate and build feed rations to minimize cost and maximize animal performance.
  • Drive growth of feed sales through new product development, analysis, and customization.

This position is located at our Farmers Feed and Supply Mill, located in Boyden Ia.  The employee will handle manufacturing and packaging of inventory for individual store needs and outside sales force. This person will maintain warehouse needs with loading and unloading bags of product and working in and around the facility. Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Use batching software to complete orders
  • Weigh out hand adds
  • Mixing a minimum of 10 #50lb tubs per hour to keep up with production
  • Loading bags on conveyor for bagger
  • Check bag weights to ensure accurate operation
  • Maintain bagging efficiency by removing completed pallets and replacing with new pallet and slip-sheet
  • Ingredient maintenance
  • Periodically checking micro hoppers, filling if needed
  • Periodically checking tote hoppers, replacing if needed
  • Loading bulk feed from bulk loadout onto bulk trucks
